HEAVEN MOVES SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE
WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Take a deep dive into why and how we were made to MOVE with the living God— explore how dance can create an opening for the Lord to put you on like a glove, and not only experience dancing for Him but dancing with Him and through Him.
For four days we will move together through technique, dance electives, choreography, and prophetic improvisation. Staff who have been doing this for over fifteen years and have traveled around the world will share their knowledge and personal experience, and also set choreography on participants for the closing performance.
Our dream at Heaven Moves SDI (FL) is to continue to connect the Christian dance community along the East Coast, and cross pollinate to learn and grow from all God has done in us! So…
If you are a dance educator or minister: We have a heart to connect you to those who are doing the same thing day in and day out! Come to be refreshed, filled, and empowered with new tools to continue breaking ground in the world of dance in the Christian sphere.If you are a beginner: There is an OPEN LEVEL track for you! Even if you have little to no dance training, you are encouraged to join us. We wanted to make a space where you can grow and learn and take a step of trust… people who have never danced before are welcome and highly encouraged to come!
If you have technical training: You can expect intermediate to advanced level technique classes and choreography where you can glean and push yourself; meanwhile still getting the spiritual substance that you desire!AGES 13+WHERE

Join us for a showing of dance that integrates housing the Presence of God and ministering through choreographic works.
Choreography Showcase
An experience you will never forget! Join dancers from all over the state to perform a one-time live choreography showcase. Showcase not only the set choreography learned throughout HMSDI, but your testimony. Dance teams/groups can apply to share their dance works too.

DAY SESSIONS
2:00 PM
Devotional & Spiritual Practice
To start the dance day, we will always have some time of worship. Along with this, we will be learning about the connection between our bodies and Heaven. This is a class where you will learn more about movement, ministry, connecting with God, and be able to put that into practice.
2:30 PM
Technique Class
The technique class given will be either ballet, contemporary or jazz. This class will be split into levels so everyone has the right fit for them.
3:30 PM
Choreography Session 1
We have our wonderful choreographers this year setting pieces on the students. You will be assigned choreography that you will learn all week. These pieces will then be performed on Saturday night for our Heaven Moves Showcase.
4:30 PM
Contact Improvisation
In this class, you will learn different contact improvisation techniques and non-traditional partner work with an emphasis on weight sharing and leading/following. You will leave with tools that will help you build your own choreography and boost your confidence while improvising on the spot.
5:15 PM
Choreography Session 2
Each full time student will learn and participate in two choreographic pieces to be shown at the showcase on Saturday Aug 1.

NIGHT SESSIONS

Master Class
In this block of classes, you will be able to experience many interesting technique classes! We will be offering jazz, hip hop/house, contact improvisation and ballet. Beginner - advanced level available.
8:00 PM
Spiritual Practice
This class is foundational to this program. In these sessions, you will hear from our teachers about the theology of movement. We will learn about the connection between worship and movement, which helps you how to expand your own practices with the Lord. Then we will put it into ACTION and all practice together!
9:15 PM
Connect Time
To end the day, connect for a while, share testimonies, and give instructions for the next day. This is an intentional space left here to allow the Holy Spirit to move and for community to grow.
